SPC Tamez’s earned the Expert Marksmanship Badge, Deutsch Expert Marksmanship Badge and accumulated numerous awards to include the Global War on Terrorism - Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal and the Overseas Service Ribbon. Posthumously, Eddie was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the Combat Action Badge for service while deployed to the Theater of Iraq. David collected guns, old trucks, and loved reading books about the military. He spent most of his time outside in the woods exploring the land on the family farm in NE Indiana. During high school he began his career as a mechanic by taking classes at Tucker Career and Technology Center. He loved working on vehicles and continued this as he lived out his life long goal of serving his country in the Army. He was 20 years old when he was killed in action on April 27, 2007.
